Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 2nd, 2012

Thursday February 2nd is the Blue and Gold Banquet at Candalaria at 6:30. The scouts will provide entertainment and food and a birthday cake will be served. Volunteers are still needed. If you would like to help out, please contact David Hill. After the dinner we will be handing out the Pinewood Derby Cars.

Volunteers Needed

The Christmas Tree recycle is approaching quickly and the Pack needs help operating our stand at Office Depot. The dates that we need volunteers are Dec. 30,31, Jan1,7 and 8. This is our main fundraising effort for the year. The money collected over these two weekends pays for most of the food activities and badges and keeps the cost of Cub Scouts low so that we can continue to offer this inexpensive fun. We also need some parents to help out in the kitchen at the Blue and Gold Dinner, February 2nd at Candalaria. Basically we need some ovens to heat up lasagnas that will be served at the dinner. Contact Peter if you are able to do this.
The January 13th Pack Meeting is Career Night at the school. We will have professionals from a variety of different fields to speak with the scouts. This is also the deadline to sign up for the Albany Lock In and the Winterhawks game.
The Lock-In is Feb. 10th and 11th, $20 per scout $15 per adult.
The Winterhawks game is Feb. 24th, $9 per scout $13 per adult.

500 Lbs!

The Pack 31 Food Drive was a huge success this year as our pack brought in 500lbs of non perishable food to the Marion/Polk Food Share. If you imagine that a person can eat about a pound of food in one day, our morning effort fed 3 meals to 500 people. Nice job to all the scouts, you should be very proud. We also collected about $50 in cash donations.

The next Pack Meeting is Thursday December 8th at 6p at the Mission Mill. We are doing tree decorations made out of recycled materials. Each den is responsible for one type of decoration to be made by the entire pack. On December 10th is a Tree Decoration Party at the Mill where 7 different Cub Scout Packs will put the ornaments on their trees. This will be at 11am.

Food Drive Saturday

We are meeting at Candalaria at 10am for the Cub Scout Food Drive. From there you will go with your dens to collect food from a neighborhood. Please bring wagons and paper or plastic bags for collecting food. It's supposed to be sunny but it may be cold so dress warm.

The December Pack Meeting has been moved to the 8th at 6:00 PM at the Mill. It will be a Tree Decoration Event, each den will bring a tree ornament decoration idea made out of re-cycled material (have one parent in charge of your den’s decoration project while the boys go from table to table).
Remember, the tree will be outside, so make sure it is water resistant.

Coldstone Creamery Pack Takeove

November 17th is the Coldstone Creamery Pack Takeover from 4:30-8:30. This is a fundraiser for the pack, so invite as many family and friends as you can. Coldstone is located at 4643 Commercial Street SE.

Sunday is the Zena Forest Hike

November 13th is the Zena Forest Hike. Meetup at Candalaria at 1p to carpool out to West Salem. This is a 1.5 mile hike where the boys will learn about foresting on private lands in Oregon. Bring comfortable shoes, water and be prepared for weather. We should be done by 4p. Also, check out some recent photos from scout activities, click here. Pack Meeting at the Marion Polk Food Share

We are meeting Thursday, November 3rd at 6:30 at the Marion Polk Food Share. The address is 1660 Salem Industrial Drive NE. The boys will help pack boxes of food for needy families in the community. This will teach them about volunteering and providing a helping hand to those who are less fortunate.

If there are any new scouts who have earned the Bobcat badge, they will be presented at the meeting on Thursday.

Up coming events:
Webelos Mountain Man Day. Friday November 4th, meet at Candalaria at 10:45 to carpool out to Silverton. One of the scout grandparents has offered up his property to help the Webelos work toward their Outdoorsman Achievement Badge. There will be a cookout and a series of Mountain Men projects. The boys will return to Candalaria at 4p.
